This fun (often annoying) holiday jingle may relate to several of our patients as they wait for their permanent teeth so they can get BRACES! Yay! Few know that this song was written in 1944 by a public school music teacher from Smithtown, NY. Mr. Donald Gardner asked his second grade class what they wanted for Christmas, and noticed nearly all of the children answered with a lisp due to the missing of one or both of their front teeth!
Mr. Gardner wrote the song in only 30 minutes! What a coincidence that orthodontic appointments also average only 30 minutes!
So, next time you are in the office either waiting for an appointment, sipping coffee or have your mouth wide open for an adjustment you can hum this little ditty and thank goodness for your two front teeth and smile!
Happy Holidays!
